MEDIA ALERT 10.30.20 MARIANNA POCKET PARK: PROJECT UPDATES
Danny Lipford, home improvement expert, TV host and Marianna native, is bringing his national
television show, “Today’s Homeowner” to film in his hometown December 5-10, 2020. Lipford and his crew will clean up a downtown area damaged by Hurricane Michael in 2018, and convert it into a community “pocket park” with the help of local community volunteers. His production team will film the project for a special 2-part episode of “Today’s Homeowner” which will air in early 2021.
PARK PLAN REVEALED Lipford has been working closely with Marianna architect Paul Donofro to develop a final plan
for the park’s design, which he is pleased to present and release today. Key features of the park include: Arched entry with signage, raised beds and planters with landscaping, octagonal picnic table-style seating, children’s seating, additional bench seating, sailcloth shades, a stage, café lighting and accent lighting to highlight the existing mural. The official name of the park will be determined in the next several weeks.

LEADERSHIP Lipford is excited to announce two volunteers who
have accepted leadership roles for the project: Theresa Vickery will serve as Landscape Coordinator and Victor Vickery will serve as Construction Coordinator. This husband and wife duo will organize volunteers who wish to help in these areas of the overall park project. Special thanks to these two for stepping up to help in this important way!

DONATIONS
Several people have inquired about donating toward the Pocket Park project. We are accepting financial donations as well as project supplies and materials. Currently, we're searching for an area nursery to provide trees and other plants for the park. Anyone wishing to make a financial donation toward the project for park construction and maintenance may send a check payable to the Jackson County Chamber of
